Write Points to Design File

The Write to design file command draws points loaded in TerraScan permanently into the design file. The command uses drawing rules assigned to point classes. See Define Classes command for information about class definitions.

The points drawn into the design file can be colored by the following methods:

  • Active symbology – the active color of MicroStation is used for all points.
  • Class – colors are defined in the active class file of TerraScan. See Define Classes tool for more information.
  • Elevation – colors are determined by the elevation values of points. The coloring scheme can be changed by clicking on the Colors button. See Color by Elevation for more information about changing the coloring scheme.
  • Flightline – colors are determined by the flight line numbers of points. The colors can be changed by clicking on the Color button. See Color by Flight line for more information about changing the color for certain flight line numbers.
  • Intensity – colors are determined by the intensity values of points. The coloring scheme can be changed by clicking on the Colors button. See Color by Intensity for more information about changing the coloring scheme.
  • Point color – colors are determined by color values assigned to points.
  1. Select Write to design file command from the Output pulldown menu.

This opens the Write to design dialog:

  1. Define settings and click OK.

This draws the points into the design file.

In most use cases, such as for drawing control points, it is easiest to use the Active Symbology setting to that one has direct control without having to modify Point Class Table settings.
