Sometimes data stored in LAS files may need to be used in other formats such as ASCII XYZ or raster files representing interpolated elevations. The Export Wizard provides a flexible way to convert the LIDAR data to other formats. Such data includes the export format, extents, tiling of the data, or cookie cutting of the data using polygons. Derived attributes from interpolated elevations such as slope, aspect, and hillshade (brightness) can also be exported to raster files.
LIDAR points within LAS files can also be exported to new LAS files. This is useful when isolating a smaller data set from a large data set for an analysis project, or tiling raw flight line data in preparation for a LIDAR project. LIDAR points from many LAS files can also be consolidated into larger LAS files.
To open the Export Wizard, click the Export LIDAR Data command
on the LP360 toolbar.
The Export wizard involves three steps that are required to describe the settings necessary for exporting LIDAR data. Once the minimum required inputs are given for each step, you will click Next to continue to the next step. The Back button may be used at any time throughout the wizard to go back to any of the three steps. Once all inputs have been provided, clicking the Finish button completes the export process.
NoteBefore launching the Export Wizard, make sure the LIDAR Layer you want to use is active, and make sure the LAS files overlapping the area you want to export are loaded. To learn more about selecting LIDAR Layers, see Selecting a LIDAR Layer. To learn more about loading LAS files, see Loading and Unloading LAS Files. |
