The settings in TerraModeler (TerraModeler->General Toolbar->Settings) can be configured to make some processes easier and more suited to typical uses with laser data leading to a more productive workflow. Settings may be shared with multiple users via a network location. It is recommended to leave the folder read only for most users to prevent undesired changes.
Editable Laser Model Settings
(TerraModeler -> General Toolbar -> Model Settings -> Editable Laser Model)
When working with laser data in TerraScan you should be creating editable laser models for use in reviewing of classifying data. For a more productive workflow and to eliminate risk of missing stray singular or small groupings of ground classified points it is best to configure the editable laser model such that you use No Exclusion to allow triangles to cross large water bodies, or voids in the ground surface, such as warehouses.
We also recommend you use the “Automatic” naming option to eliminate some button clicks and eliminate the need for the rarely used naming of a surface model.
Note that surfaces will need to be deleted and created anew in order to see the effects of the modified settings.
Saving Surfaces Settings
(TerraModeler -> General Toolbar -> Model Settings -> Saving Surfaces)
It is generally recommended not to save surfaces as they are best generated from the source laser data.
Display Shaded Surface Settings
(TerraModeler -> General Toolbar -> Model Settings -> Display Tools -> Display Shaded Surface)
Configure these settings to match the typical view you use to display a shaded surface model.
