Thin points has two new methods: Grid 2D and Grid 3D

TerraScan version 016.021 introduced two new methods for the Thin points menu command and macro routine: Grid 2D and Grid 3D. This performs thinning by looking at a group of points inside one grid cell. If you choose ‘Grid 2D’ in ‘Method’, the thinning will keep one point in the source classes inside each grid cell. You specify the grid step size. This can be useful if you wish to identify the highest points inside a given grid cell with their original co-ordinates.
