Modifying the Line Symbols

About the Line Symbols

Two line symbols are used to define the width and color of the index and intermediate contour lines. Index contours are always drawn with the respective symbols; however, the intermediate contour colors can be assigned based on the elevation legend. This is useful for ramping the colors of the intermediate contours based on elevation values.

How to Modify the Line Symbols

Modify Symbol Button

1. Open the Contour Property Page by selecting the Properties button on the LP360 toolbar, then click the Symbology tab, the Contours tab, and the General tab. This is the order of the nested tabs.

2. Click the "Modify..." button. The Symbol Property Page will display.

3. For the intermediate contour symbol, check the "Use Color Ramping from Elevation Legend", if you wish to override the color specified by the line symbol.

Tip

  • When using the "Use Color Ramping from Elevation Legend" setting and the "Color Bands" option in the Elevation Legend, the "Vertical Distance between colors" input is the contour interval, not the setting shown within the Elevation Legend.
