LP360 License Administrator Gives Unhandled Exception Error

Symptom:

While attempting to authorize LP360 using either a code or a supplied AUT file you receive the following message:

“Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Access to the path “C:\Program Files\Common Files\QCoherent” is denied.”

Probable Resolution:

LP360 was modified in the service pack release for LP360 2015 (2015.1.76.7) to allow the LP360 License Administrator to run in a non-admin mode. This allows users to review the licenses in use at anytime, and to set their own desired license level. However, in order to authorize any license file and complete an installation the LP360 License Administrator must be running using the elevated privileges in Windows known as “Run as Administrator”. To run the LP360 License Administrator using the “Run as Administrator” option right-click on the shortcut for the LP360 License Administrator and select “Run as Administrator”. This must be done even if the user currently logged in is an administrator on the domain or local machine as it is a Microsoft security feature.
