MfE: “Warning: disabled reference records with zero GPS coordinates”

Problem:

Running Metashape for EVO (MfE) errs almost immediately with a warning in the STDERR section of the processing log that states, “Warning: disabled [m/n] reference records with zero GPS coordinates”.

Probable Resolution #1:

The warning indicates there are one or more photocenters included in the layers submitted for the MfE job where the GPS Coordinates in the EXIF tags were zero. This can occur if the user has not run Update EXIF Tags, either as part of the Create TrueView Trajectories processing step, or on its own by running the Update EXIF Tags. Identify the layer(s) with this issue by comparing the number of features on the retained photos layer(s) to the m value in the error message. For each possible layer:

  1. Select and right-click on the Photo or Stations layer in the Table of Contents (TOC) and select Feature Analyst.
  2. Select a photo or station from the Features list in Feature Analyst.
  3. Right-click on the desired image displayed in the lower section of Feature Analyst and select EXIF Information from the menu.
  4. Verify the GPS tags for GPSLatitude and GPSLongitude contain coordinate and are not zero. If zero, then you have found a layer needing to have the Update EXIF Tags run to resolve this problem. Run Update EXIF Tags, then try re-running the MfE job.
