Riegl Laser Scanner Failing to Power On

Typically, the laser scanner in our Riegl based TrueView 3DIS should have the mirror rotate once shortly after powering the system on. If the scanner fails to power on as normal you can check the Riegl laser scanner log for the following messages that may indicate there is an issue.

[info] LaserFactory: Failed to connect. Retrying...
[error] Failed to connect to the Riegl

Probable Resolution #1:

Since the payload is typically powered from the drone. Only power on the TrueView System after the drone has finished initialization as the power supply can potentially be a little unstable during initialization.

Probable Resolution #2

If the system is restarted too many times or too quickly, it can become “bricked” to prevent damage and the Riegl laser scanner won’t power on.

In this event, you will not see the scanner mirror rotate. Leave the payload powered on and the laser scanner should eventually clear itself. This may take 30 minutes to an hour.

If the system has not cleared up after an hour there may be an issue with the payload. Contact GeoCue support at support@geocue.com
